Javed Ahmed Ghamidi - a Muslim or an Agent?

Javed Ahmed Ghamidi is a self proclaimed Pakistani Muslim "scholar" who is like Saul. Paul was the 13th self appointed disciple, who joined Christianity to create Pauline-Christianity. Today, another Saul is born, however, in the ranks of Sayyidna Muhammed Sallahu alayhi wa sallam by the name of Ghamidi. His agenda is to systematically slaughter every Sunnah and replace Islam with a new belief system, like his predecessor Paul.

In an interview, posted on Youtube, Ghamidi (who shaves his beard) is asked about the subject of "Beard in Islam". Given the opportunity to explain Ghamidi neither quotes the Quran nor any hadith in this matter. Conversely, he resorts to a philosophical explanation:

"in my opinion Muslims will keep a beard, and the reason Muslims will keep a beard is because their messenger kept a beard and they (the Muslims) love their messenger. As you know when people have a strong affinity towards great personalities, and are impressed by that personality they follow and emulate that person. Muslims also have such great love for their messenger. We know that the messenger of Allah used to keep a beard. The other prophets also had a beard, and people try to express their love by adopting and emulating; thus beard falls under this category."

It is very interesting that Ghamidi does not refer to himself as a Muslim; rather he talks about Muslims in the past tense. He says:

  • ....their messenger
  • ....they (the Muslims) love their messenger
  • ...Muslims.....love for their messenger

Is he not a Muslim? Why didn't he say our messenger? Our love for the messenger dictates...? I, and We as Muslims love our messenger? He does not use the first person singular, thus clearly dissociating himself with the Muslims. He forwards his corrupt views and clearly insults the messenger of Allah by rejecting the Hadith of Beard in Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim. He also mocks at the hadith and plays it off as cultural norm. In fact, during this interview he refers to Muslims as "their messenger" a number of times.

Ghamidi refers to "Muslims" and "their belief system", which clearly indicates that his belief system is not that of Sayyiduna Mustapha Muhammed Sallahu alayhi wa sallam. Otherwise, he would have kept a beard, because, in his own words the requirement of love is to emulate and follow a great personality. It is obvious that he does not consider the messenger of Allah as a great personality, nor does he feel the need to follow him. So, who is that great personality that he really follows in his heart? His words reveal a shocking conclusion, "....that which had nothing to do with 'Deen' (way of life) has been made a part of 'Deen' (Islam)...." Javed Ahmed Ghamidi abrogates the command of the messenger of Allah regarding beard, thus, advancing himself as the new "great" personality that should be 'followed'!

Swiss ban mosque minarets in surprise vote

GENEVA – Swiss voters overwhelmingly approved a constitutional ban on minarets on Sunday, barring construction of the iconic mosque towers in a surprise vote that put Switzerland at the forefront of a European backlash against a growing Muslim population.

Muslim groups in Switzerland and abroad condemned the vote as biased and anti-Islamic. Business groups said the decision hurt Switzerland's international standing and could damage relations with Muslim nations and wealthy investors who bank, travel and shop there.

"The Swiss have failed to give a clear signal for diversity, freedom of religion and human rights," said Omar Al-Rawi, integration representative of the Islamic Denomination in Austria, which said its reaction was "grief and deep disappointment."

What is the future of Pakistan?

Pakistan emerged in 1947 as a nation that was poised to hold on to the principles of Islamic governance where peace, tranquility, human rights and independence would be enjoyed by Muslims and Non-Muslims. The independence of Pakistan came with a price which was voiced by the Ulema (scholars) of Islam at that time; what will happen to the Muslims that will be left behind in India?

Pakistan has been hijacked over its history of "development" by various groups, leaders and feudal land owners. It is a far cry that the Scholars of Islam are the culprits behind the failure of this nation. It is very strange that bloggers writing about Pakistan always paint the picture that Muhammed Ali Jinnah (the founding father of Pakistan) somehow wanted dicotomy; separation of religion and state. This is nothing but an open lie.

Constitution of Pakistan: (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shabbir_Ahmad_Usmani)

"...after the establishment of Pakistan, Muhammad Ali Jinnah maintained close relations with Maulana Shabbir and consulted him in all of his matters. Through this association, Jinnah became more fervent in Islam and often referred to Islam in his speeches for the solution of national problems. (The prove of this statement is in the paragraph below)

Maulana Shabbir's relationship with Jinnah progressed to the point that Jinnah requested Maulana to lead his funeral prayers (which he did). Sheikh Shabbir Ahmed Usmani is remembered for having written the Qarardad Maqasid (Objective Resolutions) in March of 1949, which was passed by the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan and became the basis of the Constitution of Pakistan. The erudite deobandi scholar also participated in the preparation of the first draft of the Constitution of Pakistan as well, and conducted the inauguration of the flag of Pakistan and the Constituent Assembly as per the wish of Jinnah.

These contributions are all forgotton. However, to derail the establishment of an Islamic Pakistan a leader by the name of Major-General Sahibzada Sayyid Iskander Ali Mirza (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iskander_Mirza) took the reigns of Pakistan:

"..In 1958, Mirza decided that the 1956 Constitution was contributing to political instability; on 7 October, he declared martial law with the view to introducing a new constitution "more suited to the genius of the Pakistani people" in November. He appointed the commander-in-chief of the Pakistan Army, Ayub Khan, as the martial law administrator. Ayub Khan declared himself President on 27 October after a bloodless coup d'état. "

So, what is the future of Pakistan? The theoretical solution is very simple: align the sentiments and constitution of the country according to the peaceful statement of the messenger of Allah (sallahu alayhi wa sallam): "Follow me and the way of my companions". This simple golden rule is the only way to align all the differences, debates and disbelieve. However, a more realistic approach is to understand what is really brewing in Pakistan. The latest bombings in Peshawar led me on a search to find the answer to this question, and the answer was not what I had expected:

Pakistan A Sex Industry has Begun to Boom

http://pakteahouse.wordpress.com/2008/07/20/in-pakistan-a-sex-industry-has-begun-to-boom/

"...Pakistan can also accommodate the gay community with prostitution. Unfortunately, this has also given rise to child prostitution.

A Pakistani blogger wrote, “We [ethnic] Pathans are very fond of boys. [In Pakistan] the wives are only [had sex with] once or twice a year. There are lot of gay brothels in Peshawar – the famous among them is at Ramdas Bazaar. [One can] go to any Afghan restaurant and find young waiters selling sex.”

As in many societies, access to technology, the Internet and mobile phones has only facilitated the sex trade in Pakistan. “Matchmaking” websites serve the male clientele, while providing marketing for prostitutes."

And Allah knows best.

Norway (Stavanger) Police Spreading Lie against Islam!

Frankly speaking, the Norwegian's are gentle and kind people. I think the Norwegians are like the Malaysian's of Europe!

Islamic Council of Norway (http://www.islamic.no/), sent out this press release following a statement from police in stavanger of rapes carried out by people who call themselves Muslims. Read the statement from police in Stavanger:
www.dagbladet.no/2009/11/12/nyheter/innenriks/drosje/voldtekt/9000864/

Islamic Council of Norway reacts with concern at a statement from police in Stavanger about rape motivation of thousands of men. A police captain has been quoted as follows: "Those who attacked and raped women on the street, has meant that they have been in their full potential. They have seen an intoxicated woman without result. She will then be considered fair game in some Muslim communities. " Such statements are highly stigmatizing to a large group of innocent people, and includes in addition a completely unwarranted suggestion that Islam is a causal explanation for these violations. It is extremely disappointing that a representative of the public exercise such a degree of lack of discernment.

Singapore and its great Islamic Heritage

The Wikipedia (http://www.state.gov/g/drl/rls/irf/2006/71357.htm) describes Islam in Singapore as follows:
Sunni Islam is the religion of about 15% of Singapore's population; mainly the sizeable Malay minority, who constitute about 13.9% of the country's population. Other adherents include Tamil, Pakistani and Arab Muslim communities together with a tiny number of Chinese and Eurasian followers of Islam. 17 per cent of Muslims in Singapore are of Indian origin.

Approximately 77 percent of the population was ethnic Chinese, 14 percent ethnic Malay, and 8 percent ethnic Indian. Nearly all ethnic Malays were Muslim, and most ethnic Indians Hindu. The ethnic Chinese population was divided among Buddhism, Taoism, and Christianity, or was agnostic or atheist. http://www.state.gov/g/drl/rls/irf/2006/71357.htm

Top 10 Muslim Countries

By Richard Allen Greene CNN

(CNN) -- Nearly one in four people worldwide is Muslim -- and they are not necessarily where you might think, according to an extensive new study that aims to map the global Muslim population.

Nearly two out of three of the world's Muslims are in Asia, stretching from Turkey to Indonesia.

-India, a majority-Hindu country, has more Muslims than any country except for Indonesia and Pakistan, and more than twice as many as Egypt.
-China has more Muslims than Syria.
-Germany has more Muslims than Lebanon.
-And Russia has more Muslims than Jordan and Libya put together.

The Middle East and north Africa, which together are home to about one in five of the world's Muslims, trail a very distant second. There are about 1.57 billion Muslims in the world, according to the report, "Mapping the Global Muslim Population," by the Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life. That represents about 23 percent of the total global population of 6.8 billion. There are about 2.25 billion Christians, based on projections from the 2005 World Religions Database.
Brian Grim, the senior researcher on the Pew Forum project, was slightly surprised at the number of Muslims in the world, he told CNN. "Overall, the number is higher than I expected," he said, noting that earlier estimates of the global Muslim population have ranged from 1 billion to 1.8 billion. The report can -- and should -- have implications for United States policy, said Reza Aslan, the best-selling Iranian-American author of "No God but God."

Top 10 Muslim countries, by population
1. Indonesia: 202,867,000 (country is 88.2 percent Muslim)
2. Pakistan: 174,082,000 (country is 96.3 percent Muslim)
3. India: 160,945,000 (country is 13.4 percent Muslim)
4. Bangladesh: 145,312,000 (country is 89.6 percent Muslim)\
5. Egypt: 78,513,000 (country is 94.6 percent Muslim)
6. Nigeria: 78,056,000 (country is 50.4 percent Muslim)
7. Iran: 73,777,000 (country is 99.4 percent Muslim)
8. Turkey: 73,619,000 (country is about 98 percent Muslim)
9. Algeria: 34,199,000 (country is 98 percent Muslim)
10. Morocco: 31,993,000 (country is about 99 percent Muslim)

Zakir Naik in light of India's History

It is amazing how people have such a short memory of the historical facts that have led to the success of Dr.Zakir Naik. The subcontinent -India and Pakistan - has produced some of the most remarkable Muslim scholars that have left an indelible mark on Islamic History. For example, Pakistan - having the second largest population of Muslims in the world - stands at a very critical juncture as war in the region unfolds in front of our eyes. However, the war waging in Pakistan dates back to pre-partition; when Pakistan was actually India. A time when the British had waged an ideological war against the Muslims of India. The colonialists launched a deceptive campaign, using Christian Evengalists, to create confusion in the hearts of Indian Muslims. Before Zakir Naik was even born, Maulana Rahmatullah Kairanvi, a Hanafi scholar educated in the "Darse-Nizami" curriculum came to the forefront of rescuing the faith of the Muslims in India. Sheikh Kairanvi was a contemporary of the great Maulana Imadadullah Muhajir Makki (rahmatullahi alayhi). In fact, both will later migrate to Mecca when the the British stepped up their "Lal-Masjid" type mission of slaugtering the Muslim scholars. Maulana Kairanvi (rah) wrote his magnum opus, "Izhar-ul-Haq" in 1864 becoming the most authoritative work on the Christian Bible:

"This book, internationally recognized as one of the most authoritative and objective studies of the Bible, was originally written in Arabic under the title Izharul-Haq (Truth Revealed) by the distinguished 19th century Indian scholar, Rahmatullah Kairanvi, and appeared in 1864. The book was subsequently translated into Urdu, and then from Urdu into English by Mohammad Wali Raazi. Rahmatullah Kairanvi wrote the book in response to the Christian offensive against Islam during the British rule in India, and specifically to counter the subversive attack made by the Rev. C. C. P. Fonder. Rev. Fonder had written a book in Urdu entitled Meezanul Haq, the open intention of which was to create doubts into the minds of the Muslims about the authenticity of the Qur’an and Islam. Sheikh Kairanvi’s intention in his book was first of all to show that the Bible cannot in any way be considered as a directly revealed book. He does this very effectively by means of his voluminous and authoritative knowledge of the Jewish and
Christian scriptures. He demonstrates beyond doubt that the Books of the Old and New Testaments have been altered, almost beyond recognition, from their original forms. The work is even more notable in the light of subsequent Jewish and Christian scholarship and the various discoveries that have since been made in this field which all bear out the truth of Sheikh Kairanvi’s thesis."

[Please click on this link to read his works http://abdurrahman.org/comprel/IzharUlHaq.pdf]

Let us wind past the events of Maulana Kairanvi to the time when all went quite, history quitely folded its events with the passage of time; until another Muslim Scholar was born. Sheikh Ahmed Deedat was born in India, but later migrated to South Africa. Turn of events would lead Ahmed Deedat (rahtullahi alayhi) to the discovery of a historical event that would turn the tides on Christian Missionaries; the book "Izhar-ul-Haq". The profound nature of the book would pave the path for Sheikh Ahmed Deedat, taking him to great heights of scholarship and rewarding his life with the title of "Muslim Scholar of the Christian Bible".

Sheikh Ahmed Deedat will become an inspiration for millions, if not billions of Muslims across the world including Dr.Zakir Naik. It is sad that Dr.Naik down plays the role of Hanafi Ulema, who sacrificed their lives and saved millions of souls despite being branded as "Mullahs". It is so sad that he has not given the classical ulema the respect that they deserve; yet he enjoys his fame under the pretext of a doctoral title and as a "modern" forward thinking "scholar". He got his authentic seal from Sheikh Ahmed Deedat (rah) who possessed "ilm-Laduna" through the book of Maulana Kairanvi (rah). Dr.Naik would not be what he is today had he not drank from the fountain of knowledge flowing from stream of classical Ulema - who were in fact non other than from the "Deoband" school of Islamic scholarship.

Let me conclude with this very couplet I learned from my grandmother, who actually saw the great Muslim scholar Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanvi (rahmatullahi alayhi) in her teens. The couplet is:

"Baa Adab Baa Naseeb" (He / She that possess 'Adab' - etiquettes & respect - is very blessed)
"Bay Adab Bay Naseeb" (He / She that possess no 'Adab' is without blessing)

Dr.Farhat Hashmi - another Zakir Naik

Dr.Farhat Hashmi, unfortunately carries the same views as Dr.Zakir Naik, Nasir-ud-Deen Albani, Dr.Abu Ameenah Bilal Phillips and the Salafi Movement. Her target audience has been the rich women of Pakistan. Once she gained momentum amongst the elite class, she expanded her scope of work to Dubai, America, Canada and other Western countries; still focused on the elite and secular educated women.

Her outreach to women has been on the pretext of teaching them to learn the Holy Quran. Then she turned her attention to teaching ahadeeth, but not just any hadith; only Sahih Hadith. So, she also preaches the new unfounded rule called, "follow only the Quran and Sahih Hadith". The only problem is that Dr.Farhat Hashmi cannot trace this statement either in the Quran, nor in any Sahih Hadith, so how did she concoct this rule? Very simple. She is a Muqallid (a blind follower) of Maududi, Nasir-ud-deen Albani and she tows the punch line of the Salafi Movement. Dr.Farhat Hashmi has the following three (3) methodolgies in her "scholarly" approach to fame:

  1. Learning the Quran: In teaching and learning the Quran Dr.Hashmi has left all classical methods, and adopted the so called modern approach of starting from scratch. Her students don't have to learn the grammer, just know 300 words in Arabic and you can master the language. She is doing much better than Rosetta Stone (a language institute) that requires at least 1000+ words as a requirement to master a language. When Dr.Hashmi is preaching the Quran, her approach is like that of Ahle-Quran. Meaning, learn the Quran because it is the word of Allah not the word of a man. Follow only the Quran. This is the first stage of brain washing, because no one can argue against such a blind-sided statement. It is a half-truth explained as an absolute truth. Her followers think that this methodology is flawless, and that they don't have to follow anyone. But if they stopped to think for a moment, they would realize that Dr.Hashmi didn't learn the Quran in the cradle. She learnt her Quran from a man who she trusted; her father. Meaning, she had to do taqleed of her father in the learning the Quran. If taqleed is denounced by her as Shirk then in her own words she has implicated herself as a mushrik; unless she denies following her father blindly in learning the Quran? By not undertanding the fundamental meaning of Taqleed and Guidance in the Quran she is actually not qualified as as scholar of the Quran.
  2. Learning the Hadith: She claims to have learnt Hadith from Nasir-ud-deen Albani, Ghair Muqallid. Eventhough she rejects the concept of blind following, she is nothing but a blind follower herself. Because, it is Albani and the Salafi Movement that has put a limitation on Hadith - meaning follow only Sahih hadith. It is not something imposed by the Noble Messenger of Allah (sallahu alayhi wa sallam). In reality she is a rejector of hadith, By rejector what I mean is that she does not follow any weak ahaadeeth. She only follows Sahih Hadeeth. However, the hadith related to things that make water impure is weak. So, Dr.Farhat Hashmi needs to explain why she is selective in her choice of weak hadith. If the book "Fadail Al-A'maal" is mentioned to her, she will immediately accuse the great Hadith Scholar - sheikh Zakariya Kandhalvi (ra) - of authoring a book that containes nothing but weak ahaadeth. However, when checking on the purity of water before ablution, Dr.Hashmi has yet to explain to this Ummah why she accepts the weak hadith regarding the pre-conditions of wudu in regards to using water.
  3. Learning the Fiqh: She is a rejector of Fiqh, like Dr.Naik. She rejects the four established schools of Fiqh. She rejects the popular hadith of Muadh ibn Jabal (radhi Allahu anhu) where the principles of Fiqh were established by the noble messenger of Allah (sallahu alayhi wa sallam), that is, Quran, Sunna, Ijma and Ijtihaad. Surprisingly, her research is by large taken from the "Fiqh" works of Abul Ala Maududi - who was a master in twisting terminologies and matters of Fiqh to benefit his movement. I would like her to explain clearly to this ummah what she thinks of Taraweeh Prayers? After all she loves to encourage women to attend the Mosques; so the best month to be in the Masjid is the month of Ramadhan. So, should her followers be in the Mosques, praying Tarawih? Can she substantiate that women, especially the Sahabiyaat performed tarawih behind the noble messenger of Allah (sallahu alayhi wa sallam) in the month of Ramadhan?

83-Old Man Calls Beautiful Azan

Increasing use of face veil worries Egyptian government

CAIRO (AFP) – Women dressed in stark black, their faces veiled and their hands sometimes gloved, are becoming a common sight in Cairo, a trend that worries the government as it battles a lurch towards fundamentalism. Most Muslim women in Egypt wear the hijab, which covers the hair, but the niqab, which covers the entire face, is becoming more popular on the streets of Cairo.
The issue has been brought into sharp focus following reports this week that Mohammed Tantawi, head of the Islamic Al-Azhar University, told a girl to remove her niqab when he toured a high school funded by his institution. Tantawi, the country's top religious authority, reportedly also said that he intends to ban the niqab at the university.
The ministry of religious endowments has distributed booklets explaining that wearing a niqab is un-Islamic while the health ministry wants to ban doctors and nurses from wearing the austere veil.
A decision has also reportedly been taken to ban students from wearing the niqab in the residences of the state-run Cairo University, although the university authorities deny this is the case.
Outside one the university's female residences, students said they had been stopped at the gates when they tried to enter wearing face veils.
"I don't understand their point of view. If it's for security, we can lift the niqab for security and show them our IDs," a student, who gave her name only as Heba, told AFP.
Three veiled students huddled together nearby reviewing a complaint to the university that they had written and planned to lodge.
A security guard said he had been ordered to bar women from entering the residence wearing a niqab, even if they showed their faces for identification.
"From a security standpoint, the niqabs weren't a problem for us," he said. "They would show their faces when asked. I was surprised by the decision.
"If you want reasons, ask the education ministry," he said.
The education ministry denied there was a ban. "There is absolutely no ban against students wearing the niqab," said ministry spokesman Adli Reda.
He said the orders were to have the students show their faces when asked for identification, because several men were caught last year sneaking into the residence wearing the niqab.
A university spokesman also denied there was a ban on niqabs.
Hossam Bahgat, of the rights watchdog the Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights, said however he had received complaints from students who had been banned from entering Cairo University residences because they were wearing the niqab.
Bahgat said there was a tendency to ban students with known opposition leanings from living in residences, especially those affiliated with the banned Muslim Brotherhood, the country's largest opposition group.
The niqab, however, is not usually associated with the Muslim Brotherhood, which advocates a peaceful transition to an Islamic government through elections.
Supporters of the niqab say wearing it brings women closer to God, and that they should be allowed to choose their own dress.
The majority of mainstream Muslim scholars -- who agree a woman must cover her hair -- say the niqab is unnecessary.
It is commonly associated, in the Middle East, with followers of Salafism, an ultra-conservative school of thought mostly practiced in Saudi Arabia.
Salafism has much in common with the ideology of Al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden, but most of its practitioners shun politics, putting the emphasis on spreading the puritan creed of emulating the practices and beliefs of early Muslims.
Analysts say the niqab trend is a source of concern not only for the government but for Al-Azhar as well.
Egypt has over the years witnessed a series of large-scale attacks by fundamentalist militants, starting with the assassination of president Anwar Sadat in 1981.
This year, it arrested two cells of Islamists blamed for a bombing in a Cairo bazaar that killed a French teenager, and a botched jewellery store heist that killed four Christian Copts.
"There are government concerns about Salafism," said Diaa Rashwan, an expert on political Islam with the Ahram Centre for Political and Strategic Studies.
"There is a secular trend in government, and the niqab is against that," Rashwan said. "And Al-Azhar has always had a cautious dislike towards other trends that challenge its legitimacy."
Al-Azhar has long enjoyed a reputation as Sunni Islam's most eminent source of learning and religious edicts. Many Salafists however view Al-Azhar's theological teachings with contempt.
